I’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of my time by the ocean. It’s almost as though time stands still when you’re by the sea and in the moments of taking in the view in deep breaths, there’s an eternity in the rhythm of the waves.

The view is majestic and while you immerse yourself in a good book with some chilled music playing on your portable bluetooth speaker, it has it’s own little charm that brings calm and contemplation.

There’s a certain smoothness about the days and nights spent by the sea, it’s where my mind wants to be and where it can find peace. It’s where I can think, for hours, about my plans for the future while not forgetting to enjoy the place and the space, the ‘now’ and moment itself. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore continue.

There's something about the calmness of the waves and the stillness my mind feels and the peace that spending time by the sea gives me. 'Tides' draws on a lot of organic and peaceful sounds & pushing myself to make more 'musical' stuff because of where I'm at in my journey as a producer, I find that my music isn't as musical or groovy as I would like it to be. But like Thom Yorke said in an interview of his on BBC, “You have to hate what you’ve done before to move on to the next thing.” which is rather apt for me. But I set out to make an EP that was the smoothest sh*t I've made so far and I sort of succeeded in doing that.

Tides is an EP that echoes my desire to live by the sea someday and own a beach house. That's a goal I'm working towards. But as an artist I would say that in the evolution of my sound, and trying to create the inner calm I experience by shorelines, Tides is perhaps my most calm and relaxing EP yet.

There are so many genres I'm influenced by and after releasing 'Blues By The Bay' which was an experimental beattape throwing back to the blues, I wanted to get back to Electronica/Downtempo and 'Tides' just sprang up over the course of the months this year as spring turned to summer in India.

The beats are much more interesting on this EP, and despite not having the gear I would ideally like to have, the sounds are very organic and layered heavily on top of each other. But hopefully this EP brings the calm and relaxation and meditative state of mind I feel by the ocean into the music and that was what I was trying to bring about with the tracks on this EP.

It's an EP that was conceived very much with the beaches of India in mind, and reflects the stage I'm at in my musical journey. But if nothing else, I hope this EP brings about a lot of peace and relaxing vibes the more you listen to it.

This is for the 'Tides' of life & how life flows just like the waves. This one is just me standing by the shoreline grooving, relaxing, winding-down and peacing out and I hope you find some cool, calm, warmth, tranquility and peace and harmony with the tracks in this EP.
